Capital Growth supports people to grow food in London, whether at home, on allotments or as part of a community group.
Capital Growth is a partnership initiative between London Food Link, the Mayor of London Boris Johnson, and the Big Lottery's Local Food Fund. It is championed by the Chair of the London Food Board Rosie Boycott and supported the creation of 2012 new community food growing spaces across London by the end of 2012.
Why grow your own food?
Food growing is great exercise, it helps people learn new skills and brings people together. Growing your own can also ensure the food you are eating is fresh, delicious and tasty, rather than covered in chemicals, flown around the world and wrapped in plastic!
How does Capital Growth help?
Capital Growth now offers practical help, training and support to people wanting to grow their own food. The scheme offers in-kind support to people who grow their own food in London, including providing access to discounted training at their Regent’s Park allotment, networking events, support with growing to sell and discounts on equipment.
Capital Growth has an online space finder which will locate local organisations with spaces in your area and local community which are free to grow food in. To access the space finder please click here.
