Action Fraud is the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud and cyber crime. They provide a central point of contact for information about fraud and financially motivated internet crime. If you've been scammed, ripped off, conned or targeted, there is something you can do about it.

Action Fraud exists to ensure that victims of fraud have a central place to go to in order to report crime and get advice and support. The service works in Partnership with Victim Support and everyone who reports a fraud to them has the option to receive support from the charity afterwards.

Reporting fraud and cyber crime:
You can report fraud or cyber crime any time of the day or night by using the online reporting service. Click here for more information. The service enables you to both report a fraud and find help and support.

Action Fraud also provide help and advice over the phone through the Action Fraud contact centre. You can talk to their fraud and internet crime specialists by calling 0300 123 2040

Specialist advisers are available during the following times:

Monday to Friday between 8am to 9pm
Saturday between 9am to 5pm
Sunday between 9am to 5pm

Action Fraud will not call you unless you have requested them to, and will never ask for your bank details. If you are unsure whether a call is genuine, call the Action Fraud team on 0300 123 2040. Please note this number will be charged at your normal network rate.

Who is Action Fraud run by?
The service is run by the City of London Police working alongside the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau who are responsible for assessment of the reports and to ensure that your fraud reports reach the right place. The City of London Police is the national policing lead for economic crime.

When you report to Action Fraud you will receive a police crime reference number. Reports taken are passed to the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau. Action Fraud does not investigate the cases and cannot advise you on the progress of a case.

If you want to contact Action Fraud on behalf of a vulnerable victim, they will provide an enhanced service to help. Please make it clear that you are contacting them on behalf of a vulnerable victim.
